Love Turning Into Marriage

Hi Bloggers,

Writing on some senstive topic now and am sure should be close to a lot of folks. This blog is not meant to be offensive in any way but just a critical and logical analysis of one of the most celebrated human feelings called "Love"..
The dictionary lists followings meanings of the word:
1. A deep, tender, ineffable
feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.
2. A
feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair; the emotion of sex and romance.
Now lets start, I have underlined the word that I find most important in the definition of the word - "feeling".
Since we have been child we have always been told to control many of our feelings may it be anger, desire to have something or even affection (remember those times when u had to leave your grandparents post summer vacations). Then the question becomes isn't "love" a feeling which can be controlled?
An article in Time of India some days back had some very interesting interviews about this topic. The psychiatrist interviewed concurred that love is a feeling which originates when one finds someone
who can solve the problems, challenges faced or to put it simply someone who 'fills in the gap.'
Let me take a few examples: I have seen personally very many cases where in the professional or
educational life people get attracted towards eachother because one of them is either intelligent or
higher up in the hierarchy or some material reason. Does this not mean that the same feeling can be
controlled or if somebody who does not have any gaps will not fall in love? Does it justify to put so
much emphasis on the feeling as in movies and all?

Being Committed!!

Have been on the other side till now, I was acutally very surprised the way folks tranformed with this word and decided that I shall never be the same but I think things have changed:

~ Couch Potato (Med) >> Mobile Addict
~ Sleep at my leisure >> Cannot sleep w/o THAT phone call
~ Never bothered to think twice before talking to friends >> Have to choose my words carefully
~ Never had that Missing feeling >> miss the Miss
~ Mobile was optional >> Check mobile every 5 mins just to be sure I haven't missed The call/sms
~ Phone call ended in 5 mins >> Phone calls last for well its a secret

Well I can go on but I think that is enough to suggest that am also being transformed..and Doc, 'Being' is optional in this post....

Are we ready for no-smoking!!

One of the current buzz: Is the smoking ban in public spaces justified?

The supporters will say yes it is justified but the big question comes is if it is viable?
All of us know that in India the corruption is to a very grassroot level so Prats puts it, this is a very gud opportunity for the law enforcement authorities to earn an extra mullah..we all know of how an Indian buyes his way through the system: jumping a red signal give some Rs.100 and avoid the ticket, drive without NOC give some Rs.200 and avoid the ticket..so it won't be new to see a guy/girl with a cigarate buying their way out of the law..
Well I have to agree to this point that it is definitely one avenue for the authorities to earn some mullah but are we correct to blame the authorities when a citizen [so called responsible] buyes his way through..In the eyes of law both the person getting and giving the bribes are culprits..
The government has done a good job by atleast implementing a law of this kind which is good for passive smokers but if the execution fails it is we the citizens of India who are to be blamed..
A simple looks at the nature of us Indians will let you know: Indian in foreign follows the rules so why does he/she does not want to follow them in his/her motherland!!

ROCK-ON

As usual a near flawless entertainment from the very talented Farhan Akhtar..
The acting of all the actors especially the band is not exactly Magik but leaves up to the
expectations.
The movie kinda takes a leaf from Hollywood and put it in Bollywood context.
Now for some micro-analysis [some criticisms :) ]:
1. The music is the hard rock kinds more of rock + pop which is contrary to the expectations set through out the movie of pure Rock or Hard Rock music
2. I for one found is very difficult to believe a Investment Banker getting weekends off and moreover time to manage both work and music practice
3. Too much Farhan Akhtar in the movie even during the last song should have been Arjun Rampals number but Farhan manages to show himself
4. Movie seems to be too long
5. Farhan has selected a very good topic same as Lakshya but fails on one part somehow does not seem connected [a flawless transition from one sequence to another]

The movie also aptly shows the characters we see in everyday life:
Farhan Akhtar: A guy lucky with everything
Arjun Rampal: Always following his dream and emotional away from the politics of the world
Purab & Luke: Both holding the group together not the usual front facing guys but who work on the backend to see things through

The movie though manages to ask oneself to think back about your dreams which have been lost due to getting tangled in the cycle of working life...

All and all a must watch...

The Dilemmas'

Completed more than quarter of a century of living and here come some of the dilemmas' I have faced. Even the great Shakespear faced "To be or not to be" so here come mine:

1. To take the first step or crawl
2. To be a friend or not
3. To tell parents or not
4. To join a company or not
5. To learn a topic or keep it in option
6. To cheat or not to
7. To ask a girl out or not
8. To write that extra bit in exam or walk out
9. To leave office before boss leaves or wait

Conclusion: Who ever said Murphy's law does not exist must be a fool

Bittersweet Symphony

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Trying to make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the veins meet yeah

No change, I can't change
I can't change, I can't change
But I'm here in my mind
I am here in my mind
But I'm a million different people
from one day to the next
I can't change my mind
No, no, no, no, no, no, no,no,no,no,no,no(fading away)

Well I never pray
But tonight I'm on my knees yeah
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now
But the airways are clean and there's nobody singing to me now

No change, I can't change
I can't change, I can't change
But I'm here in my mind
I am here in my mind
And I'm a million different people
from one day to the next
I can't change my mind
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
I can't change
I can't change it

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Trying to make ends meet
Trying to find some money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the veins meet yeah

You know I can't change, I can't change
I can't change, I can't change
But I'm here in my mind
I am here in my mind
And I'm a million different people
from one day to the next
I can't change my mind
No, no, no, no, no

I can't change my mind
no, no, no, no, no,
I can't change
Can't change my body,
no, no, no

I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
Been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
That you've ever been down
That you've ever been down

Eternal Dialogues

The Dark Knight

Joker:

Either you die a hero....or u live long enough to see yourself turn into a Villan...

[speaking to Two-Face] Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it! You know, I just, do things. The mob has plans, the cops have plans, Gordon's got plans. You know, they're schemers. Schemers trying to control their worlds. I'm not a schemer. I try to show the schemers how, pathetic, their attempts to control things really are. So, when I say, ah, come here, when I say that you and your girlfriend was nothing personal, you know that I'm telling the truth.

See, I'm a man of simple tastes. I like dynamite...and gunpowder...and gasoline! Do you know what all of these things have in common? They're cheap!

The Shawshank Redemption

RED: I have no idea to this day what them two Italian ladies were singin' about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I like to think they were singin' about something so beautiful it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared. Higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made these walls dissolve away... and for the briefest of moments -- every last man at Shawshank felt free.

RED: I find I am so excited I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it is the excitment only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is undcertain......I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. (beat) I hope.

RED:
I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more gray.

The Pursuit of Happyness

Christopher Gardner: [to his son] You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can’t do it. You want something? Go get it. Period.

Kabhi Kabhi [This one purely for the intensity of the actors no-one present or past could have done it better]

Vijay (Shashi Kapoor): Lalat hai yaar, itnsi baat na samajh sake bahut hi chote aadmi nikle Vijay
Amit: Hmm Kya hua Vijay sahab?

Vijay: Pooja my darling es duniya aadmi insan ban jaye to bahut badi baat hai

Andaz Apna Apna [Well all the dialogues are awesome!!]

Amar: Chit mein jeeta, pat tu hara
Prem: Nahi nahi uska ulta kar
Amar: Thik hai..pat mein jeeta, chit tu hara

Amar: Aap mahaan hai,
Shaktimaan hai,
Buddhimaan hai,
Keertimaan hai,

Balki… balki main to yeh kahoonga ki aap purush hi nahi,
Mahapurush hai… mahapurush!

Jerry Maguire

We live in a cynical world. A cynical world. And we work in a business of tough competitors. I love you. You... complete me.

I'm finished, I'm fucked. Twenty four hours ago, man, I was hot! Now... I'm a cautionary tale. You see this jacket I'm wearing, you like it? Because I don't really need it. Because I'm cloaked in failure! I lost the number one draft picked the night before the draft! Why? Let's recap: Because a hockey player's kid made me feel like a superficial jerk. I ate two slices of bad pizza, went to bed and grew a concience!

Thanks impish for these ones :)
Sex and City
Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting,
challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.

Despite the fact that there are over eight million people on the island of Manhattan, there are times you still feel shipwrecked and alone. Times even the most resourceful survivor would feel the need to put a message in a bottle, or on an answering machine.
